Basement contributor Matt Bellamy has taken it upon himself to watch and review at least one horror movie a day for the month of October . . . because he's awesome that way! For his second kick and the horror-movie can he's tackling Frank Darabont's adaptation of Stephen King's classic novella The Mist!
Director Frank Darabont is one of two directors (the other being Rob Reiner) who seems to "get" Stephen King. Thomas Jane stars as a father trying to protect his son from not only the creepy crawlies lurking in the mysterious mist but also some of the people trapped inside the local supermarket, growing crazier and more unstable once the laws and rules of society have been tossed out the window. One of the better modern horror movies, I'll be watching the black & white version as it was originally intended to be viewed. Tomorrow's movie is a disgusting romance!

I loved this movie, actually- not only a good Stephen King adaptation, but also a decent B-style movie!
