That's right, Warner Bros. is bringing horror to the Halloween season as a sequel to their highly successful fright flick The Conjuring is scheduled to hit theatres Oct. 23, 2015.
This is great news for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the case files of Ed and Lorraine Warren are ripe for a spooky franchise. There any number of potential movies that can spring from their real-life investigations.
And Basementites have wondered for years why Hollywood shuns the idea of horror movies in theatres for Halloween. Sure, the Saw and Paranormal Activity films have dominated the box office for several consecutive Octobers, but as a whole, the fall is largely ignored as a release date for scary movies.
For the record, The Conjuring came out in July.
Carey Hayes and Chad Hayes are writing the sequel, and Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are expected to return as the Warrens. No word yet on whether or not James Wan is back in the director's chair.
