The Ooze Edition: the films of Corey Rajala plus an interview with Apocalypse Kiss director Christian Grillo
The Basement is known for putting the spotlight on independent and little-seen genre pictures that exist outside Hollywood -- the Cinematic Basement, as we like to call it.
This edition of Film Reviews from the Basement focuses on the work of a budding genre filmmaker who lives right in The Basement's backyard of Kamloops, B.C.
Corey Rajala wrote and directed the short films Night of the Ooze and Revenge of the Ooze, and has a third on the way. His flicks screened at the Fake Flesh Film Festival in Kamloops in 2012 and 2013, to much fanfare. Now Jason and Shawn will introduce Rajala's movies to Basementites around the globe, and provide a biased opinion or two. How do the Ooze movies hold up? Stick with us!
Then stick around as Jason interviews Christian Grillo, director of the upcoming sci-fi/serial killer flick Apocalypse Kiss. Yes, science fiction is an ambitious endeavour on a low budget, but Grillo pulled it off, and recruited a renowned cast, including genre faves Tom Atkins and Michael Berryman. Grillo explains how he did it in this 15-minute interview, which is a must listen for fans.
