That seems to be the latest news surrounding the second season of HBO's acclaimed cop show True Detective, which means the much rumoured about all-female cast was just that -- a rumour.
In fact, Colin Farrell is already on board and Taylor Kitsch is eyed for another role. Vince Vaughn is in early talks to join the show.
Plot details are slim, but Farrell's character could suffer from cocaine addiction and anger management issues. There's also an alcoholic female sheriff with a gambling problem and a highway patrolman who sexually exploits a woman he pulls over.
Nice to know they're keeping it dark.
If the Vaughn news is accurate, this could be his shot at breaking away from the lame-ass comedies he's been making. The man is a decent dramatic actor, but those day seem way in the past. I don't know if he has what it takes to pull a Matthew McConaughey, but a role on True Detective is certainly a step in the right direction.
